Christian Yelich said it is a “crime” that Craig Counsell did not win Manager of the Year

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich said it is unusual that Craig Counsell has not won Manager of the Year in his career.

“I don’t think he gets enough credit,” Yelich said, according to James Wagner of the New York Times. “I really don’t get it. It’s almost a crime that he hasn’t won the Manager of the Year award in recent years. He definitely deserves it for all of our success here.”

The Brewers, one of the MLB’s lowest-budget teams, have a 13.5-game lead over the second-place St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.

Since taking over as manager during the 2015 season, Counsell has a 523-468 record. Milwaukee has been deadly the past four seasons, with 303 wins, sixth-most in the MLB in that span.
