The German Siebert at Inter-Real Madrid, the Romanian Hategan at Atleti-Oporto

The German referee Daniel Siebert will be in charge of directing the Inter Milan-Real Madrid match, while Romanian Ovidiu Hategan will do it at Atlético de Madrid-Porto, both matches of the first day of the group stage of the Champions League, which will be played this coming Wednesday at 9:00 p.m., according to UEFA.

It will be the first time that Siebert, 37 years old and international since 2015, whistled the Madrid team in a European competition match. For his part, Ovidiu Hategan, 41 and a FIFA referee since 2008, already led Atlético de Madrid in their home match against Salzburg (3-2), on the second day of the 2020-21 Champions League, played on 27 October 2020.

The Spanish referees will also be present on this European day on Wednesday, as Antonio Mateu Lahoz will whistle for Besiktas-Borussia Dortmund; and José María Sánchez Sporting Portugal-Ajax Amsterdam.
