Jesús Areso is determined to return to Osasuna, a club that he left as a youth, to sign for Athletic after payment of his clause. The Navarrese right-hander, who started the last preseason with the Bilbao first team, rejected an offer to renew as rojiblanco, which is why the Lezama officials decided that he would return to Bilbao Athletic without being able to be lined up by Joseba Etxeberria.
The news about the fate of Areso was advanced today by ‘Onda Cero Pamplona’. The right-back will return to Osasuna once this season is over. The rojillo club, according to this information, offers him a 5-year contract with a termination clause between 12 and 16 million euros.
Athletic, curiously, signed this Navarrese footballer with Josu Urrutia at the head of the entity in 2017, after payment to Osasuna of the 450,000 euros of his termination clause as a rojillo. That bet of the previous managers of the Ibaigane entity supposed that the Navarrese institution would consider the relations between both clubs broken.
Areso, 21, has played for Bilbao Athletic during these last four seasons with a participation of 27 games in 2017-18, 25 in 2018-19 and 27 in 2019-20. This season, not wanting to renew, he has only trained with the subsidiary.
